2018
On 10-15.06.2018 G. Kowalewska participated in the international conference organized by Association for the Sciences of
Limnology and Oceanography - ASLO 2018 Summer Meeting, Victoria (Canada). During the conference G. Kowalewska gave an oral
presentation entitled: ‘Cyanobacteria carotenoids in recent Baltic sediments as indicators of state of the environment and climate warming’.
On 7-10.06.2018 M. Krajewska and M. Szymczak-Żyła participated in conference ‘XXXVII Sympozjum Polarne’, in Poznań. M. Krajewska
gave an oral presentation ‘Chloropigments and carotenoids in Hornsund (Spitsbergen) sediments as indicators of environmental changes’.
2017
On 19-20.10.2017 the scientists from MPL IOPAN (G. Kowalewska, M. Szymczak-Żyła, A. Filipkowska, L. Lubecki, M. Krajewska)
participated in conference ‘I Konferencja Naukowa Polskich Badaczy Morza: Stan i trendy zmian w morzach i oceanach’, in Sopot.
During the conference M. Krajewska gave an oral presentation, and three posters were presented as well.
On 21-25.08.2017 A.Filipkowska and M.Szymczak-Żyła participated in the meeting with scientists from the Norwegian University
of Science and Technology (NTNU, Trondheim, Norway) in the framework of the GAP activity, supported under the Fund for Bilateral
Relations - Polish-Norwegian Research Programme.
On 26.07-14.08.2017 the CPS-KNOW-IOPAN PhD student M. Krajewska participated in the IV stage of 'AREX 2017' scientific expedition.
Sediments taken from Arctic region were used for realization of her doctoral thesis.
On 27.05.2017 the scientists from MPL IOPAN participated in the Sopot Science Day, organized by Institute of Oceanology PAN,
at the square 'Plac Przyjaciół Sopotu', presenting research results.
On 23-28.04.2017 the CPS-KNOW-IOPAN PhD student M. Krajewska participated in conference of EGU (European Geosciences Union)
in Vienna and presented a poster ‘Carotenoids in the Gulf of Gdansk sediments - useful markers of environmental conditions in the past’.
On 04-07.04.2017 the CPS-KNOW-IOPAN PhD student M. Krajewska participated in conference ‘Arctic Science Summit Week’
in Prague and presented an oral presentation ‘Pigments in sediments – a useful tool for studying environmental conditions
in Arctic regions’.
On 26.02-3.03.2017 the scientists of MPL (G. Kowalewska, M. Szymczak-Żyła, A. Filipkowska) participated in the international
conference organized by Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography – ASLO 2017 Aquatic Sciences Meeting, in Honolulu,
Hawaii (USA). During the conference G. Kowalewska gave an oral presentation entitled: ‘Climate warming today and in the past
in the southern Baltic and Norwegian coast area – a multiproxy study' and three posters were presented (1-‘Present and
past-millennia phytoplankton blooms in two different European coastal areas’, 2-‘Multi-proxy investigation of recent sediments
in two different European coastal areas (Poland, Norway) – anthropogenic impact on ecosystem health’, 3-‘Elements and elemental
species in sediment core as proxy of the climate variability and marine biogeochemical processes’).
2016
On 24-25.11.2016 G. Kowalewska gave 8 lectures on marine chemical pollution to students from two departments of the University
of Bologna - Rawenna Campus.
XII Conference - 'Chemistry, Geochemistry and Protection of the Marine Environment' took place in IO PAN, on 21.10.2016.
The scientists of MPL presented an oral presentation (A. Filipkowska) and a poster (M. Krajewska).
The third Annual Partner Meeting of the CLISED project took place on 15.09.2016 at the congress centre of the Polish Baltic
Frederic Chopin Philharmonic, in Gdańsk. The activities of the third year of the project realization were analysed and future
plans were also discussed. The CLISED project has received funding from the Polish-Norwegian Research Programme operated by
the National Centre for Research and Development under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009-2014.

Between 12th and 16th September the international, geological conference, organized by National Geological Institute -
National Research Institute - 'The 13th Colloquium on Baltic Sea Marine Geology' took place in Gdańsk. One of sessions of this conference
(Wednesday 14th September 9.00 -11.00 a.m.) concerned presentation of results of the Polish-Norwegian
project CLISED, coordinated by MPL IOPAN.

Conference 'Polish and Norwegian research on climate and environment' took place on 19-20.11.2015 in Sheraton Hotel located in Sopot.
The National Centre for Research and Development in cooperation with the Research Council of Norway organized the event.
During the conference a short presentation on the CLISED project was presented.
CLISED Second Annual Partner Meeting took place on 17-18 of Semptember 2015 in Brekstad near Trondheim. The activities of the second year of the project realization
- the cruises and the results - were analyzed. Also, the plans for years 2016-2017 were discussed.
Oslofjord cruise within CLISED project took place on 14th of September 2015. Eight people participated in the cruise (3 - from Marine Pollution Laboratory,
IO PAN, Sopot; 2 - from University of Gdańsk; 1 - from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim and 2 - from Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, Oslo).
The aim of the cruise was to collect samples of deep sediments.

On 6-9.09.2015 G.Kowalewska, M.Szymczak-Żyła i M.Lawręc took part
in the ECSA 55 Conference (Estuarine Coastal Sciences Association)' in London,
presenting poster related to the CLISED project: 'Chloropigment proxies in recent sediments
- comparison of the Gulf of Gdansk (Poland) and Drammen/Oslo (Norway)'
and poster about carotenoids as a biomass indicators.
Presented results met with great interest of the participants of the conference.
Trondheimsfjord cruise within CLISED project took place on 26th of August 2015. Seven people participated in the cruise (4 - from Marine Pollution Laboratory,
IO PAN, Sopot; 1 - from University of Gdańsk; 1 - from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim and 1 - from Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, Oslo).
The aim of the cruise was to collect samples of deep sediments from Arctic region.

On 24.07-03.08.2015 M.Szymczak-Żyła and KNOW doctoral student M.Lawręc took part in stage IVa of the scientific expedition called 'AREX 2015'.
Sediments taken from Arctic region are crucial for realization of doctoral thesis about carotenoids in marine sediments.
On 22-25 of June 2015 employees of MPL (G.Kowalewska, M.Szymczak-Żyła and M.Lawręc) participated in an international
conference in Cracow '31st IAS Meeting of Sedimentology' and presented two posters:
- 'Chloropigments in deep marine sediments as proxies of climate change-driven eutrophication',
- 'Carotenoids in recent sediments of the Gulf of Gdansk (Baltic Sea)'.
On 25th of May 2015 employees of MPL (M.Bolińska, M.Lawręc, A.Filipkowska and M.Szymczak-Żyła)
promoted Laboratory and CLISED project at one of the stands at the VIII Sopot Day of Science,
which took place at the Sopot Pier. Project and Laboratory posters were presented.
Furthermore, brochures about eutrophication of the Baltic Sea and biogas, as well as
information leaflets were distributed. The event, as every year, attracted the attention of
tourists and citizens of Tricity.
Gulf of Gdańsk cruise within CLISED project took place on 10th April 2015. Six people participated in the cruise (4 - from Marine Pollution Laboratory,
IO PAN, Sopot; 1 - from University of Gdańsk; 1 - from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim). The aim of the cruise was to collect samples of deep sediments.

30th March 2015, XII Annual Conference of the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot - '30 years of Oceania in the research of the Baltic Sea and in the Arctic'.
G.Kowalewska presented a speech about organic pollutants and pigments as markers of the state of Baltic Sea.

28th January and 10th March 2015 - Marine Pollution Laboratory hosted students of the University of the Third Age. On both occasions prof. G.Kowalewska has presented lectures related to the MPL research field. During the
visit M.Szymczak-Żyła, A.Filipkowska, M.Lawręc and L.Lubecki have presented their work and research places.
Conference 'Chemistry, Geochemistry and Protection of the Marine Environment' took place in IO PAN on 24th October 2014.
Employees of MPL presented two posters and a lecture. M.Szymczak-Żyła was a member of the organizing committee.
Since 1st of October a new project officer of the CLISED project has been employed. MSc. Eng. Martina Bolińska replaced dr Ilona Złoch.

In October 2014 MSc. Eng. Magdalena Lawręc has started experimental work in Marine Pollution Laboratory as a PhD student of Institute of Oceanology - Centre for Polar Studies (KNOW).

26th August 2014 - Institute of Oceanology hosted 30 representatives of the Joint Technical Secretariat of the South Baltic Programme
and the Central Baltic Co-operation Programme. Main topic of this meeting was eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. Prof. G.Kowalewska presented
a speech about goals, objectives and outcomes of the project WAB. The guests have visited the monitoring station at the Sopot pier.
Drammensfjord/Oslofjord cruise within CLISED project took place on 7-12 of June 2014. Nine people participated in the cruise
(4 - from Marine Pollution Laboratory, IO PAN, Sopot; 1 - from University of Gdańsk; 2 - from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim,
2 - from Norwegian Geotechnical Institute, Oslo). The aim of the cruise was to collect recent sediment samples.

The kick-off meeting of the CLISED project was organized in IO PAN on 10-11 of March 2014. Twenty-one people participated in the two-day long meeting.
In January 2014 signed a contract and started realization of the project CLISED - 'Climate Change Impact on Ecosystem Health - Marine Sediment Indicators' Core Program 2012 Call Polish-Norwegian Research Cooperation,
with partners from Norway (Norwegian Geotechnical Institute - NGI, Oslo and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Department of Biology, Trondheim) and from Poland
- University of Gdansk, Department of Oceanography and Geography and the Institute of Oceanology in Sopot, the coordinator of the project. G.Kowalewska is the project manager. Project duration: 02/01/2014 - 01/31/2017.
