5th Baltic Sea Science CongressThe Baltic Sea - a changing ecosystem

Introduction

The idea of organizing the Baltic Sea Sciences Congress was initiated by marine scientists from different disciplines to provide a forum for exchanging knowledge, enhancing cooperation, and integrating the scientific community that studies the Baltic Sea.

The 5th Baltic Sea Science Congress continues the tradition of high-quality scientific meetings of Baltic researchers representing the Conference of Baltic Oceanographers (CBO), Baltic Marine Biologists (BMB), and Baltic Sea Geologists (BSG). Place and Date

The 5th Baltic Sea Science Congress will be held on June 20 - 24, 2005 at Hotel Haffner, in Sopot, Poland. In order to permit our Scandinavian colleagues to celebrate the Midsummer Holiday, the program will be shortened to the four days of June 20 - 23. For those who can stay longer, excursions to places of interest can be organized on Friday June 24.

Sopot is a popular and fashionable summertime coastal resort. It is located near the Hanseatic city of Gdańsk famous for its picturesque Old Town and Oliwa, whose cathedral houses a world-famous organ. To the north of Sopot is the young and dynamic port city of Gdynia. Malbork, home to the thirteenth century Teutonic Castle, and the long sandy Hel Peninsula are both within driving distance of Sopot.
