Halocynthia aurantium (Pallas, 1787)

Description
Barrel shaped, growing to a height of 18 cm. Body attached directly to the substrate. Two siphons at the top.

Color
Red or orange with a smooth or wrinkled tunic.

Size
180 mm.

Habitat
Most common at depths from 40 to 100 m.

Feeding
Suspension feeder.

Distribution
Common in northern Pacific, Pacific Arctic.
