Size Up to 70 mm, usually 30-50 mm. Color Chalky. Periostracum light brown to dark brown, dull, wrinkled. Habitat Silty sand, often with gravel or stones. Depth Mainly in sublittoral. Feeding Deposit feeder. Suspension feeder. Life cycle Dioecious. Development with pelagic larvae. Distribution Widespread, boreal-arctic. |
