Musculus niger (J.E. Gray, 1824)
Size Up to 50 mm in length. Color Shell light tan to deeper brown, with a paler greenish area ventrally between the two ribbed areas; periostracum light brown or olive to deep brown or almost black in large specimens. Habitat Occurs offshore, on sandy mud and fine gravel. Depth To 200 m. Feeding Suspension feeder. Life cycle Separate sexes; pelagic larvae. Distribution Circumboreal. |
