Distinguishing characteristics
Rounded postchaetal lobes on the parappodia and 2 finger-like prechaetal lobes, the notopodial much shorter than the neuropodial.
Mid-body segments triannulate.
Species description
Body broad anteriorly, tapering posteriorly. Prostomium is small and conical with palps and antennae forming a cross at the tip. Mid-body segments triannulate. Parapodia short with 2 finger-like prechaetal lobes, the notopodial much shorter than the neuropodial. Postchaetal lobes rounded. Dorsal cirri on body wall, rounded, ventral cirri finger-like. Notopodial capillary chaetae in a single bundle, neuropodial chaetae compound, in two bundles. Upper and lower chaetae in each bundle thicker with shorter blade than the median chaetae. Branchiae absent.
Size
Up to 150 mm long for 170 segments.
Color
Living animal whitish, anterior part pinkish.
Habitat
Sand mixed with gravel, from the eulittoral to about 600 m.

Mobile.
Feeding
Carnivore.
Detritus feeder.
