Distinguishing characteristics
Body long.
Three pairs of dichotomous branchiae with moderately long tips and short round stems.
Anterior ones longer than the posteriors.
Species description
Tentacles numerous, long. Three pairs of dichotomous branchiae with moderately long tips and short round stems; anterior branchiae longer than the posterior ones. 19 chaetigerous thoracic segments. Uncinigerous tori from segment 5. Uncini in double rows on segments 11-22. Posterior edge of the pygidium undulate. Tube - a thin layer of secretion encrusted with a very thick layer of mud.
Size
Up to 190 mm for 100 segments.
Color
Alive rust-red.
In alcohol pale yellow.
Habitat
On sand, mud or mixed bottoms.
