Overview

The main objective of the project is to provide additional knowledge concerning the role of mixing and water mass transformation processes which might cause meaningful rates of the mass and heat exchange, both horizontally and vertically in the boundary areas of the Arctic Ocean currents.

In particular the project takes under consideration the eastern part of the Greenland Sea as an important region for the polar circulation pattern.

The project has been carried out at the Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences, in the Physical Oceanography Department during years 2013-2016. It has been coordinated by Ilona Goszczko, MSc. The work has been supervised by Waldemar Walczowski, Assoc. Prof.
