In year 2010 the 42 samples on 14 station was collected on the area of 2000km2 in the Lancaster Sound and 9 on the stations in the Ellsmere Island from the area of around 250km2. Although the assumpted amount of samples was at the begining of expedition 120 spreaded on 30 stations, the weather condidtions during the sampling time hadn't allowed for such work and the amount of samples needed to be reduced.

In year 2011 using favorable weather conditions,

and more numerous team contsist of experienced, hyperactive

but also enthusiastic younger scientists

were able to collect an additional samples, especialy since the ice greatly expanded the area covered by the study and allowed to investigate the occurrence of protists in various environmental conditions (age, thickness of ice and snow cover were measured also during that time). The campaign in year 2011 ended succesfully with 70 samples collected from 23 measuring stations scattered in the area of 3000km2.

Preliminary analyses were held in the field labolatory. The biomass was also determined (chlorofil a) of the autotrophic ice- related protozoa as also their physiological condition.

Apart from analyses of sea-ice protista collocation, there were also a sea-ice cores collected, to get as much as possible in short time amount of protists for the culturing for "seeding experiment" conducted by Canadian's Team Leader.
