The Project titled: "Mesoscale
collocation of sympagic and pelagic sea-ice associated protista
in the Canadian Archipelago" is caried out within the
network ArcticNet which
Department of Oceanology from Institute Of Oceanology Polish Academy
of Science is participant.
Presented project sticked to Canadian founded project BIOTA lead by Christine Michael (DFO Canada).
The Polish project is realized by: Jozef
Wiktor (leader), Agnieszka Tatarek(Ice algae), Katarzyna Piwosz
(flagellates and FISH-ery business) and Magdalena Rozanska - Pluta (sympagic
diatoms).
Field work and experiments were
conducted on the Polar
Continental Shelf Project Station. Samples to determine the
location, quantity and taxonomic composition of the protozoa that
inhabit sea ice was carried out in the area 2000km2 in 2010 year
and 3000km2 in 2011 year.
The twinotter, helicopter and skidoos were used for transportation.
