The quantitative data, quality indicators and the model generated in COSA create the knowledge base needed for quality assessment and environmental decision making.
COSA puts the research results directly to work: the two coastal National Parks participating in COSA include the scientific conclusions in their environmental management concepts.
The methods manual compiled in COSA supports further investigations in coastal sands and advances standardization of the methodology. Active exchange of experiences and research know-how between the institutions participating in COSA spreads the understanding of processes in sands to assure European-wide high quality of research results and equal standards of environmental quality assessments.
The temporal exchange of personnel between the participating National Parks facilitates a thorough learning of the methods, concepts structures and culture of the respective environmental agency. COSA already drew attention to coastal sandy environments and through its activities and output will further promote the sustainable use of sandy marine environments and increase awareness of public and policy makers.
